Merry Mary

Hi! I’m Mary and Welcome to my Blog!

I’m a twenty something RN living in Raleigh NC with my new Fiance (as of April 2011) and our two dogs.

Our lives are pretty hectic. We’re both Nurses, we flip flop shifts, and chase the dogs.

Not to mention, I want to go back to school in a couple of years and I’m trying to plan a wedding in my hometown in NY.

I love to be active. I am silly, random, and I love to laugh. I am outgoing, and have no problem speaking what’s on my mind. My life is basically a series of awkward events so I am never lacking in a funny story either about my life or the dogs.

I wear many hats as a Fiance, Daughter, Sister, Nurse, Fur momma and Friend.

Join me as I try to find balance in my busy life and ditch the diet mentality and get back to my “fighting weight” through healthy eats and quality exercise.

Lots of people ask me why I run…

I run because my bathing suit will thank me.

Thanks for Reading! I hope you keep coming back!Β  πŸ™‚

Mary! Hi πŸ™‚ So I never thought I’d say this but…I started running. Never thought I would – but I decided to add running 3ish times a week to my routine. Now I’m up to running 4 miles at a moderate/not too fast pace…but I have a question! Is it harmful to drink coffee before running? The only time I can really run is nighttime, and being a grandma/early riser for work I’m sooooo tired and unmotivated when I run without it. I ran the fastest three miles of my life last night but I know its because I had a shamefully huuuge black coffee beforehand. What do you suggest I do? By the way I love your blog! I read it a lot and wish I had the motivation to write in mine more than twice lol πŸ™‚

thank you! Good for you! Have you signed up for any races? I swear once you cross the finish line you’ll be addicted!
Personally, I drink coffee before runs and have never had a problem! in fact, I’ve read some articles that says an 8oz cup of coffee is good for you and can actually improve your running. It’s trial and error though, you have to figure out what works best for your belly and your bod before you run πŸ™‚

Awesome! I’m so glad to hear it! I have signed up for a 5k in September but only because my office has a team for it, and a friend of mine only wanted to do it if she had a friend with her! Haha I don’t knowww if I’ll sign up for more, but I’ll let you know if your addiction prediction (heh. it rhymes!) is correct!

Good for you! Where are you doing your 5k? I bet you’ll definitely want to do more when you cross that finish line!

Its in Saratoga Springs, NY! Its called the Ride/Run/Walk 4 love sponsored by Love 146. Its an organization that fights human trafficking/ sex slavery for young women and children! The website for it is rrw4l.com. We shall see! I’m kind of excited to buy some running clothes…so far its been ugly big t-shirts and yoga pants for me haha!!

    • September 1, 2011 11:11 AM

      how awesome!

buying running clothes is definitely my favorite! My best advice to you is to get some good running socks. They’re kinda $$ but they last a long time (as long as your dogs dont like socks) and your feet will thank you because they’ll be blister free!
